Among the far-sighted Danish architect Verner Panton’s most renowned works is the graphic pattern from 1960, “Geometry 1”, for which he was awarded The International Design Award in the US in 1963. Now, almost 50 years later, the stringent yet lively pattern is virtually more popular now than during the height of Panton’s popularity in the 1960s.
The Panton Geometry serving tray has a 15.7″ diameter. It is made of melamine. On Sale @ EmmoHome.
French Bull produces bold, pop-art melamine tableware at really reasonable prices. Shown here is the Spledida Dinner Plate in a bright, graphic pattern. At $11 each, its hard to beat. The line also features salad plates, trays, bowls, cups and serving pieces. Great as a gift for yourself, or someone else.
Like sleeping on a cloud… Fluttua Bed by Lago Italy is available in Queen and King sizes and in the round. While the bed gives the illusion of floating, it is actually a very low profile cantilever platform affixed to the wall. A single support leg provides additional central support. A light source beneath the bed can enhance the “floatation” sensation. It certainly seems to have helped this guy find his center…
Bleeker Buffet by Modloft uses a simple design concept to make this piece a standout. The chrome door handles line up with the chrome base – causing you to take a second look… The two cabinet doors open to adjustable shelves to store your china, linens, whatever. It stands 48″ high and 55″ across, so the top provides a great display space or serving surface. What’s really nice is that this piece is very reasonable priced at $1600, can be delivered pretty quickly and its unique – you aren’t going to see it in that catalog in your mailbox.
Harry Allen’s latest design takes him back to his early work in furniture design. Pipeline, designed for Dune, is inspired by the industrial rooftops in New York and Paris. The system is composed of cylinders, connectors and angle joints that turn up at the ends to form table tops. An inspired option for public spaces.
