A handblown fish bowl with its own underwater mountain range. A 2011 Red Dot Design Award winner in the Tableware division.
“Perceived in an innovative way, the Fishscape fish bowl wants to offer the viewer a creative alternative to the familiar sight of a conventional home aquarium. The delicate and elegant-looking glass bowl is available in different versions with surprisingly elaborate underwater landscapes. The organic-looking bulges differ in their precisely shaped details. They make the glass bottom seem to rise from the water like a mountain. A delightful play of light and shadow harmoniously completes the overall impression.”

Milan is not a fictional pet. The French Bulldog lives in NYC with designer Wenlan Chia of Twinkle Design. Chia gained attention for her innovative, chunky knit sweaters in 2000. The designer, also a contemporary furniture collector, introduced Twinkle Living at the 2006 International Contemporary Furniture Fair. The simple graphic depiction on Milan Pillow is really endearing. $58
My Pet Lamp provides soft lighting in the sihouette of man’s best friend. Unlike the real thing, this Doxie is available in soft white, mellow yellow, sky blue, sunset orange, hot pink and misty green. The light is about 20″ long and 13″ high. Its body is plastic and takes a 12v bulb. $59.

Okay, this is a little self serving, but Bailey by Pillow Pillow Pillow reminds me of my dog Paxton. What is so great about these pet-inspired pillows by Aaron Stewart is that they are based on real live pets. The website hosts a Pet Casting Call where you can submit your buddy’s image and maybe a little description. There is a chance that your pet will star in the next series of pillows. Pillow Pillow Pillow has become all the rage with pet lovers – what a great gift for your pet obsessed friends. The company already represents a pretty good cross section of breeds from Bailey the Beagle to Beeru the Pomeranian (touted as a looker and a partier) to Opie the Persian cat from New York.

Kitty Pod - Elizabeth Paige Smith
Built of heavy duty tri-wall cardboard on a maple-ply base – Elizabeth Paige Smith’s Kittypod is a radical kitty perch. “It’s deep enough for security, not so deep as to obstruct their view,” Smith says. I wonder if this qualifies as kitty pre-fab? Available at twentieth.
