Yoshitomo Nara came to prominence during the Japanese Pop Art movement in the 1990s. His subjects are usually children with a bit of an emotional edge. The works are executed devoid of texture or depth focusing all the attention on the subject and whatever personal experience it may stir up in the viewer.
