A handblown fish bowl with its own underwater mountain range. A 2011 Red Dot Design Award winner in the Tableware division.
“Perceived in an innovative way, the Fishscape fish bowl wants to offer the viewer a creative alternative to the familiar sight of a conventional home aquarium. The delicate and elegant-looking glass bowl is available in different versions with surprisingly elaborate underwater landscapes. The organic-looking bulges differ in their precisely shaped details. They make the glass bottom seem to rise from the water like a mountain. A delightful play of light and shadow harmoniously completes the overall impression.”

Umami Tray by FTF Design Studio
Umami is synonomous with “savoriness” – one of the five basic tastes. A Japanese word that translates as “delicious taste”. What better way to present savory bites than on this snow white Corian Umami Tray. Streamlined, clean and functional, the newest offering from FTF Design Studio.

So in concept its not earth-shattering – but see how great this Birch Serving Tray looks? Handmade in Finland from the highest quality materials. The thoughtful design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but what a great way to serving three different items on a single tray. Lacquered birch in red, white or black. But the red… @ A+R.

Menorah was designed by Josh Owen one of the most prolific and awarded designers in the United States. Made from cast iron, strong and honest. The thoughtful design includes a base that will catch wax drippings and hold spent matches. Simple and beautiful for Hanukkah.

From designer Peter Raacke, a five piece boxed children’s dinnerware set. What a great gift – just enough to make you smile. Clear, clean graphic without the usual corny themes. Give kids credit, they’ll recognize good design when they see it! Mono Kids Smile.

Simon Pengelly created Hands On Salad Bowl for British design house Joseph Joseph. It kind of falls under the category, Why didn’t I think of that? But then again, some of the simplest ideas are the hardest to come up with. For those of you who spend time at your children’s school potlucks – you know how often the salad servers are left behind. With this little piece of genius, that is not going to happen. Made from melamine, this bowl is beyond practical. We love it!

Less is more in the case of Stem Vase and Stem Bowl by Ferm Living. Just a section of a branch hollowed out and fitted with a removable porcelain insert. $60 for the vase, $52 for the bowl @ Ferm Living.
