Room was founded by Amy Crain and Shawn Miller in 1998 as a modern furniture catalogue with the goal of making high end pieces availabe nationwide. In 2000, the pair opened their TriBeCa showroom. Their designs have been featured in Metropolitan Home, Wallpaper, Vogue, House Beautiful and Harpers Baazar.
