Room was launched by Amy Crain and Shawn Miller in 1998 as a high end modern furniture catalogue. The goal was to make quality modern furniture readily available nationwide. In 2000, they opened the Room Showrom in the TriBeCa area of New York. Room's spare modern furniture designs have been featured in Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Wallpaper, Vogue and Harpers Baazar.
